How to keep the exterior of your car looking brand new
Whether you bought it brand new from the official dealership or indeed if you found a Convenient Deal4U through a pre-owned car dealer, when you drive your newly-acquired set of wheels, it comes with that unmistakable exterior sheen which can disappear very quickly if you don’t look after it properly. Keeping your exterior looking brand new entails more than just occasionally taking it in to the car wash though, no matter what kind of advanced paintwork went into its original colouring.
It all starts with the once-a-week wash though as a base upon which to build if you want to keep your car’s exterior looking as new as the day you first drove it home. The effects of a weekly wash as a bare minimum are more long-term, as your car will retain its brand new look much longer. A car that is regularly washed is also much easier to clean whenever there’s a serious need for it to be cleaned, like if it has some dust residue markings characteristic of having been in the rain.
The best way to facilitate this minimum of a weekly wash is by hand, so give your baby some hands-on love, even if you don’t necessarily do it yourself and prefer to take it to a hand-wash joint. Here’s a secret for you – use dishwashing liquid for a superior clean.
Put on some of your favourite tunes when hand-washing, so that you can truly take your time and enjoy the process. Once you’ve washed each section don’t leave it to the air to dry the surface. Rather use a chamois cloth, keeping a good supply so that even if your baby is being cleaned at the car-wash you can insist that they use one of these.
Beyond the weekly wash, additional washes should be added as is needed, although we’re not suggesting that your car “takes a bath” as frequently as humans do. It’ll forever be at the car wash in that case. Rather, when some fresh residue is deposited, like bird droppings which will likely have you questioning some things (like why on earth bird pooh is white), try to get that off as quickly as possible before it has too long to dry up.
Lastly, polishing your car regularly just about completes the full complement of what you need to do in order to keep the exterior of your car looking brand new. Twice a year will do if you make use of high-quality polish and the best polish to use isn’t necessarily that which is recommended by the car’s manufacturer.
